Kebabs for Jabs
So the government is very anxious that people remain healthy, they have been promoting vaccinations for all age groups and no-one is exempt.
To ensure everyone understands the benefits of good health - there are discount coupons being issued for all those who have had a vaccination - you can get money off from McDonalds, from Kebab shops, pizza places etc.,and there are taxi companies who will give people a free ride to get vaccinated.
Vax with snacks! So now you can get a jab and get the flab!

Partnerships with a wider variety of food outlets would be an improvement, but I like the underlying strategy of incentivising vaccination take-up.

In which case the motivation is aimed at those people who eat takeaways regularly.

I'd have thought a kebab would have been a disincentive.

Yep. It shouldn't be like that, but if it nudges those a little slow on the uptake to help the rest of us, I've no objection at all.

An incentive tends to operate more effectively as an incentive when people are given what they want rather than what you think they should want.
You don't think 18 to 30 year olds are very often partial to a takeaway?

I agree that there is a contradiction, yes.
But it's a pressing need's must situ and an instance of prioritising.
The list of partnerships is exactly what you would expect. You could think of it this way: to attract student accounts the banks typically offer extra incentives or 'freebies' such as discounted travel, Amazon Prime membership, pizza, film tickets, etc. This vaccine incentive take-up partnership scheme is so far including the likes of Uber, Bolt, Pizza Pilgrims, etc and is as expected. If they haven't already, the likes of Vue, Cineworld, Odeon etc are likely candidates to be getting involved, too. Makes sense.

Only 14% of Australians have taken the vaccination up - and they have had far fewer cases than the UK is said to have had. Mind you the population of Australia is 26 million, while over a far tinier area, our population is 75 million, it is obvious that any contagion will spread much faster in densely populated areas.

The risks of poor covid outcomes are much higher for the obese so tying up with "junk food" is a great idea.
This food is often eaten by lazy people who get taxis a lot another group who are slow on vaccine takeup it is an almost perfect symbiosis.
Well done to all concerned.

In the old days a sticker announcing 'I have been brave today' was reward enough.

Trying to get past the wall of apathy is a huge problem.
If we're getting some lazy ****less oaf to get jabbed who is vulnerable because of it because we have provided one more high-calorie lump of junk to them, so what.
Yes, I would hand out packets of cigarettes to those who smoke to get them to take the jab because they are more vulnerable.
I would also offer bribes to the anti-vaxxers who labour under misapprehensions through ignorance.
Just how much specious junk has the Prof C&P on here because of not understanding the science?
Give him a Pizza or 10.

What has that got to do with anything?
The most ardent anti-vaxxer, the idiot Piers Corbyn, soon gave up his antics when offered £10k in Monopoly money, so it seems the odd bribe works.

Joking aside younger people are genuinely more afraid of the thought
of an injection confirmed by the fact they tend to faint more than older groups.
We forget how age toughens the rest of us up to such little events.
Does anyone remember those dreadful yellowed plastic doors on the entrance to the old Promenade Hospital?
They held back a wave of ether chloroform engulfing small children in fear
of hospitals.

I just wish you would enlighten me with your scientific expertise - it would be fun.
