Muni golf links .
Cafe has been closed approximately 12 years. Why???
12 years rent lost , 12 years rates lost. This place could have been rent ou for £1,000 plus per month then , rates £8,000 per year plus employment
Etc. probably in excess of £300,000 revenue lost because of incompetence by Sefton council and the labour influence of not wanting to be successful whilst Conservative in power.
We’ve just wasted ?????? on Muriel on Toad hall . Couldn’t possibly have
found someone to take it on and make money whilst employing people and paying vast amounts of money in rates for the benefit of the people.
But hey , their philosophy is . I’m in an office getting paid good money and get a fabulous pension. Besides ITS NOT MY MONEY.

12 years? Is it that long? Yes, I have often wondered why it is not put to use. But like you say - Labour do not want Southport to be successful - that is a good reason on it's own to leave Sefton, and Merseyside.
Toad Hall, The Sands, The Chinese Restaurant on Rotten Row - Sefton Council have a long list of buildings that could be put to good use.
That Cafe in in a good spot because it is not too far from the Beach, relaxing area, and there are no other similar venues nearby. But unfortunately, we only have to look at the failed attempts by Sefton in creating a business where they put their cronies in to manage it - so not much hope there.

So Southport Market has escaped your attention?
You really do surprise me. Not.

Southport Market has escaped EVERYONE's attention!
You mean, the Southport Market that was doing very well until they increased the rents so much few could afford to run stalls? Then Sefton spent thousands on it to do it all up, but still with high rents, so few still could not afford the stalls. So Sefton spent even more money on it for a Food and Drink venue (Southport Councillors have a thing about Food and Drink) but the prices along the High street are lower than those in the Market, with greater choices. So how much more money are Sefton going to spend on a Market that needs very little except to maintain low rents until it gets back on its feet.
What do you think is a greater attraction? A busy market with a variety of goods at bargain prices or a food and drinks venue that has nothing outstanding to offer? Twit!

Clearly you have no personal experience of Southport Market in its present form, otherwise you wouldn't offer your usual carp.
So far the Market has proved that it is an outstanding attraction and that those who patronise it don't support your usual sneering, snide comments....

Quite right! You can't get support from no-one! Do you happen to know if those food venues are now being charged full rent, yet? Sefton Council have only got £1.4 million to recuperate + lost rents to get back into the black.

As I've said before, whatever you're drinking and/or eating, probably wise to give them up as it's seriously affecting your judgement.
Bit rich coming from someone who probably has no business experience whatsoever.

That dam Muriel from Toad Hall. I bet she left the lights on at the job centre too. Towns gone to pot.

Donkey 22
Yep, the lights are still on.
Someone will eventually make a phone call and pay somebody £500
to turn them off.

If you give Seftons Estates Department a ring or drop them a line I'm sure that they will give you a list of the buildings they have for disposal and lease so you can peruse it and pick one for a business venture.

If they're all such great business propositions why did the last businesses to occupy these buildings close?

Its a good walk away from the sea front (where there is NO beach), Hesketh Park has a cafe, and 'footfall' whereas the area around the front of the muni has little or no footfall - hence no customers = no business.

There is plenty of footfall, what about the golfers who could use the facilities, for a drink or a hot meal after a round of Golf, and they also do have regular competitions held there throughout the year,so the golf players could use the cafe regularly, there must be about 50-100 players who use the course during the week on any given day,and their families could also enjoy a snack, meal,or a hot/cold drink while waiting for their partners to finish playing...Used to do some good affordable meals there in the past, and enjoyed having a laugh with the staff who worked there, until they retired a few years back..Since the Council closed down the cafe,it has gone shabby looking, but a few thousand spending on the place will soon have it looking back to how it used to be.

I use the golf course often, and its disappointing there are no facilities there.
I often play their with my wife, we will then drive to the market for food and drink on our way home. However I would much prefer to eat and drink at the golf course.
