New Fire
We're looking to replace our old gas fire. There are only seem to be 2 or 3 places in Southport that sell and fit fires and they don't get very good reviews when you look online. Has anyone got any recommendations as to where we can go and look and choose? Has anyone got a new fire recently? Any advice appreciated thanks.

I would discount negative reviews that refer to delays/long wait for job to happen. Reason, majority of work of this type comes in during Winter months, which leads to jobs backing up....Six weeks wait is not uncommon, due heavy order books and bad weather disrupting flue-lining schedules. P.m. sent.

Bespoke Fireplaces Formby
Address: 93 Altcar Road, Liverpool L37 8DL
Phone: 01704 873737
Opposite the entrance to Tesco Formby. We just called in, great staff, not at all pushy. For £1000 we got a new marble hearth, electric fire, but could have a gas, fitted. The old gas one was removed, taken away, very clean job.
We visited the shop, looked at what was on show, arranged for someone to come & measure the job the following day. We then called again the next day to choose the fire & surround. 3 days later it was fitted, very pleased with the outcome & service
It has been said that when helping people change their behaviour – “the spirit in which help is offered” is the most important aspect, more than the degree of skills and knowledge of the helper!

Make sure someone tests your flue for fumes. I once had a gas fire in Duke St and wife used to get head aches, turns out lots of fumes were creeping into the room. Always worth checking.
