We now have 3 new variants running rampant across the country, the South African, Brazilian and now the Indian strict quarantine measures have been introduced to prevent these variants entering so how come non of these have been picked up?

The Indian double mutant is the one to worry about. It's responsible for the surge to nearly a quarter of a million infections in 24 hours. It's get a better mask time.

An Indian doc talks about the new Indian variant.

"Runny nose, vomiting, loose motions and coughs that begin early but continue for over 2 weeks is being seen much more commonly with the current variant. In some individuals, there is no fever at all and in others fever sometimes begins only a day or two after the other symptoms. Since patients do not attribute their colds and abdominal discomfort to Covid, they continue interacting with people until the fever strikes. By then, they have transmitted the virus to a few households.

It is therefore extremely crucial to inform the masses that they should isolate at the very onset of anything uncomfortable they experience, be it even a headache or even a slight sore throat. "

Because we have been too lax on who and how travellers are still arriving in this country.

It isn't only virus levels that influence if it is red or green, there are other factors to be taken into account, we also get a lot of vaccines from India

Nobody mentioned not letting people in never mind residents, if they go into quarantine their infection will be picked up, there is no need for wagon drivers to cross the channel the trailers / wagons can be loaded at one side and unloaded for collection at the other.

New variants aren't necessarily 'getting in'. Just because a variant is identified in one country doesn't mean the same variation could not occur elsewhere at the same time. Although there are probably an infnite number of variations, some will make the virus weaker. The number of variations that might make a virus stronger are therefore fewer and probably limited to cetain aspects of the virus making them more likely. Mutations, by definition are spontaneous so could occur anywhere simultaneously. That's not to say border control isn't important though.

I may be adding 2+2 together and making 6, but there have been a number of festivals in India recently, we have seen on the news just how careful the people have been at these gatherings (not).

We also know there are a large number of British residents/citizens who have an Indian heritage and it is not uncommon for these people to travel "home" for these festivals and then return freely to the UK, possible route for transmission?

I never said anything about keeping anybody out only the virus, quarantine must be extended AND strictly enforced, many countries have high levels and until it is brought under control we impose quarantine on all arrivals, if they don't like they can lump it.

They are allowed to wash up in rubber boats everyday. A couple of weeks of stormy weather would nip it in the bud.
