Two nights £49 is cheaper than a skip, what more could you expect?

I notice that Butlin's camps are now up for sale - I do hope Brittania are not making a bid for those.

Before my daughter moved here, she booked a weekend at Pontins with the kids.
She got as far as reception. The manager was called and she got a refund. They aren't precious little darlings who can't rough it if needs be, quite the opposite. But she said if that's what the main building is like, there was no chance she was going to the accommodation.
Filthy, run down, shabby. A health hazard. She wound up at the Royal Clifton.
Out of the frying pan, apparently.

This felt like a promotional video for Pontins that has the message “ look we all know it’s a poor quality place but …. “, and we were shown around one chalet that was bearable. We also were made to see that the kids area has been done up a bit along with a fairly new dinosaur bit that should keep the kids amused for all of ten mins and that a lot of the activities were suddenly open despite no one being around. It seems a bit of a rip to me to have to pay for activities and stuff for the kids when you are residing there on holiday it’s like they have got a captive audience it just stinks a bit that.
So we saw around one chalet a good one compared to most with a door number scribbled on in biro and someone had put new bed mattresses ( they are the cheapest ones around ) and £5 bm quilts and £2 pillows that make me wonder was that just for this vid?, just for show?. But there’s many more videos showing the true state of the place with window frames rotting, mouldy walls, cupboards and hairy stained beds and I don’t have to go on as every local knows. I know that the cleaners only get allocated about 6 mins per chalet to clean as it was on a tv documentary years ago and from personal experience I know that everyone from the cleaners to the site manager only get minimum wage so what does that tell you.
Do you work for Brittania Dave.
If you have got kids and you are really skint then I guess if you are going to suffer somewhere then £50 for two nights will have to do, I wouldn’t like to eat there from what I have heard that’s a no. I always feel sorry for the folk that have read the literature and believe the train station is close and I see many many people dragging their families down the 3 and a half mile coast rd to Southport thinking nearly there not long now it’s just around the next corner .. oh dear.

The fence that is mentioned is installed the wrong way round, it is to keep people in not out!

Go go go do the holiday rock .
It’s a shame really that this place would once have been a magnificent place for a holiday with the sands pub open and Toad hall in full swing , the lido with a fish/sea themed bar ( I just remember that ) once upon a Southport in a time long gone this would have been a place to be proud of.
Poor Peggy got her yellow coat just as the place closed, every great British comedy ends in tears.

A lot more could be done with that area - it could really bring in the profits if we had a forward thinking council whose energy was directed in managing Southport instead of seeking self aggrandisement and spending on Liverpool. Preston is moving forward, Blackpool is moving forward even Morecambe is moving forward - but Southport is moving backwards. Forget bus passes - people have been without Arriva for some weeks now - just get Southport out of Merseyside.

What has bus passes got to do with anything, the scheme is a National one and Arriva is a private company (in this country )

It's busy irrespective of people complaining. It's a budget holiday and allows thousands of people to take a holiday. Not the most posh places but kids don't necessarily care because hey we're on holiday. Don't knock it.

The council don't care , they're getting paid and not answerable to anyone.
Money lost on toad hall and Sands. Don't give me the not viable option.
They throw carrots to companies ,no rates for 12 months to entice them in etc.
Plus many other buildings around Southport..

Sefton MBC doesn't spend money in or on Liverpool. The city has its own council.
It's a council that also has to look after a far greater area than just Bootle and Southport as you, and others, seem to think.
That area includes Aintree, Netherton, Maghull, Crosby and Litherland, Hightown, Formby and Freshfield, Ince Blundell, Thornton etc.
Southport doesn't have the size of population or economic environment to go its own way these days, compared to its County Borough era.
