Sometimes I surprise myself even
I was asked to clean the sole plate of an enamel iron today - First thought ' must not scratch the enamel' so got hold of a plastic spatula. Started scraping it but the marks were not moving off. Second thought ' The marks may clear if the iron is hot' Put the iron on. Started scraping as before. The marks got worse.
Why?

This from someone who claims better than average intelligence and better informed than most, a plastic spatula on a hot iron is certainly not the brightest thing to do.

I must admit, that would increase my customer base somewhat if I was a motor mechanic, I suppose.
So you have given up the academic career then ?
Waits for obvious reply......................................
