    Sometimes I surprise myself even

I was asked to clean the sole plate of an enamel iron today - First thought ' must not scratch the enamel' so got hold of a plastic spatula. Started scraping it but the marks were not moving off. Second thought ' The marks may clear if the iron is hot' Put the iron on. Started scraping as before. The marks got worse.

    Why?

Yes, absolutely - I was concentrating on removing the burn marks - and completely forgot the damned obvious! No Jamy - I'M not a mechanic, that was for a theoretical question - it is worse than that!

This from someone who claims better than average intelligence and better informed than most, a plastic spatula on a hot iron is certainly not the brightest thing to do.

Your sense of imagination has not waned Jamy, nor your sense of humour I am glad to see. I must admit, that would increase my customer base somewhat if I was a motor mechanic, I suppose.
