    Southports biggest ash tray ???????

The biggest ash tray has to be
has to be the pathway from
Scarisbrick New Rd entrance to the hospital.
Must be over 2,000 cigarette ends, pure filth
    and disregard for others.
Thought the pubs in town were
bad. A large part of this from
    hospital staff. A litter inspector
    could have a field day.
Before anybody jumps , it's not
for the hospital or council to provide
    ashtrays.

The hospital has signs up saying there is no smoking anywhere on hospital grounds. It shocks me to see patients hooked up to drips outside smoking, it's an addiction that I guess non smokers can understand like all addictions?
I agree it's not up to the hospital or council to provide ashtrays but at some stage someone will have to sweep them up so surely better to at least try to make smokers discard appropriately.

It is going to happen whether the smoker's are placed in Iron Masks or placed on a torture rack - so why not just place suitable receptacles for the cigarette ends? People can hardly be expected to take these with them when working in a healthy environment. Easily prevented.

There is also quite an amount of dog sh.t there, which is not very nice for people visiting the hospital to get on their shoes to walk into a hygienic area with, and I would venture a guess that dog poo bags distributed along the roads equal or out number the cigarette ends that are present - AND there are BINS for these bags! This can be prevented - educate stupid people!

There are a number of cars arrive at the hospital exuding far more toxic gases from the exhausts than any from smoking - patients are forced to breathe those fumes in. It cannot be prevented, the natural movement of air has to remove them!

There is also unsightly and highly toxic bird droppings in the area that people have to walk in on the way into the hospital. This cannot be prevented and only the rain clears it away.

There are/were a few taxi drivers and private hire drivers who used to use the gutter as their dustbin.

Some people are right slobs when it comes to keeping the streets clean.

    A) Putting no smoking signs up isn't going to stop anyone, they'll just go outside beyond the perimeter....It would be more civilised to have a smoking room within the hossy, with a big extractor fan to remove the smoke. Along with a smokers shelter in striking distance of the entrance, like pubs have. I'd imagine smokers dread having to be in there, knowing they'll be discriminated against cos of their habit.

    B) Have to agree. Either all visitors have travelled several miles, or (more likely) a goodly percentage are living locally - and lazy! Always moaning on about hossy car-park charges etc, yet not prepared to put in a bit of legwork to get there under own steam - even on a lovely sunny day....

Farting should be fined so the flatulent vegetarians get their fartboxes kicked. Put an fartdetector there, word will get around £300 a time sounds good.

It makes me chortle all the anti smoking idiots who think they are superior but haven't paid a fraction of the tax a smoker has. And I don't smoke but have enough between my ears to know what sewage the country WOULD be in without the tax from smokers and drinkers and motorists.

Perhaps if we all became teetotal non smoking cyclists the Country would collapse. USE YOUR BRAINS YOU MORONS.

I'm an ex smoker so put your brain in gear.
Smoking is a choice but the mess is what I'm
refering to and see no reason why we should pay
    to clean up the mess.
Please don't come back with the travellers etc .

I don't go anywhere with the travellers let alone come back with them. I am sure if you look around there will be healthy apple cores and orange peel dumped on the ground along with banana skins. I was talking about tax so brains and gears are in your court as for fools strawberry or raspberry?

This problem is massive and country wide, maybe if they made the filters rapidly bio degradable, while they are at it maybe they could design chewing gum that dosent stick to the floor so it can be brushed up.

So, no more choking the neighbours with toxic fumes from your Summer barbeques then?
