Yeah, there to stop people from doing excessive speeds in a built up area. I guess that doesn't bother you?

Well - yes, obviously. But if you are running just a couple of mile over the limit, perhaps because you have just overtaken or moved past an obstacle - even if you are travelling responsibly and safely - it is good to be forewarned. On the other hand 80mph in a 30mph zone is just stupid!

No - it isn't good to be fore warned!
The idea of a speed trap is exactly what it says on the tin - it's to trap those who are speeding and so, by means of a fine, points and/or education, deter them from behaving so stupidly in the future.
The most effective way of achieving this is 'pop up' speed cameras. All those who post warnings achieve is to relegate these to the status of a fixed camera, where everyone and their dog slows down only to speed up again after passing it.
Perhaps those - like Uncle Knobhead above - will only realise this when they have a loved one hurled 15 feet into the air by some pillock with an over inflated view of their driving ability.

Well if your going a couple of miles over then the chances are you won't get done anyway. Most police forces give 10% plus two miles an hour, not a legal requirement but on average that is what they allow. Again on average your speedo is around 2mph faster than what you are doing. So again on average if your speedo says 37mph there is a good chance you get 'away' with it. Any more than that you take your gamble.
If you've had to speed to go past someone or something and didn't see the camera before doing so, Maybe you shouldn't have overtaken in the first place. As you're clearly not very observant of your surroundings.

thankyou for the curteous flashing (headlights..) of a taxi driver to warn me that day...i never speed down there anyway but its nice people care!...but i dont really understand why roe lane is a target...iv never seen any bad speeding,,its a wide well lit road, i have never seen an accident there in my life....other roads like albert rd, queens rd, leyland rd are far more dangerous...does a councillor live on roe lane??

How short peoples memories are, There was a young lad killed down there on a motor bike after hitting the letter box.

Speed 'Traps' only catch poor drivers, if you can't spot them you probably aren't paying 'Due Care & Attention' and shouldn't be driving and if you are speeding as well there is no excuse.
They are only on site for a short time so by the time they've been spotted and you've got home to post a warning they've probably moved on, it is pointless posting a warning.

Or perhaps by some pillock who tends to drive at ten miles an hour in the centre of the road more fearful of his speedometer than watching the road! Nervous drivers are far more dangerous than confident drivers. Slow drivers scare the hell out of me as one can never be sure what they intend to do whereas a good confident driver even if driving a couple of miles over the limit, is clear on his road intentions.

I get the point, but the problem is that many bad drivers are also confident.
Most people give their driving very little thought, even though it may well be the most responsible thing we do every day. And notoriously if drivers are asked to rate their own driving performance 80% think they are above average...
