    The Market

Popped in yesterday for a look. Despite being very sceptical about the new concept I am impressed. Maybe, just maybe it could be a winner. Good luck to all involved.

Someone returning from their travels abroad, has decided to imitate a European idea of a food hall. These are now popping up all over the UK.
The decor is very similar to those abroad - but the venue is very lack lustre. Abroad, the menus are focussed on 'quirky' foods. Ice Cream made with liquid nitrogen, a huge variety of cheeses served on various bases, chicken wings with loads of different flavours, alligator burgers, large assortment of really fresh fish foods, a variety of pepperoni sausage. These markets are found in Bulgaria, Budapest, Iceland, Norway, The Netherlands etc.,

Open 24 hours a day and cheap!

    Southport Market looks fantastic.

I saw it on the local news this evening.

    I wish them every success.

I think there will be a huge difference between a July heatwave when folk have been 'released' and are desperate to just go somewhere, and a wet Tuesday afternoon in October. Fingers crossed they can weather both and bloom.

I have my doubts about the location. All the food courts I've seen are within busy shopping centres or markets. But I do hope the enterprise itself is enough to generate the custom.

I'll be popping along when the initial rush is done. Looking forward to it.

My lunchtime experience yesterday was most disappointing. The “Southport” version of souvlaki in a pita looked as bad as it tasted - will try a pizza next and hope it hasn’t been “interpreted”

Decor was different but I agree that the location will sadly be it’s nemesis

Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Perhaps they will open up if the demand is there. I believe some outlets ran out of food by 5pm on Sunday.
I've noticed many pubs and restaurants are now closed on the quieter days of the week.

    Market

Give it a chance.Chefs days off Monday and Tuesday when I was a chef. Not going to give you the weekend off are they. Hated it ( haha) It should do well. Pity it wasn’t in a better location. I would find it hard to find if I didn’t know were it was. Like your average off the train tourist??

I went today too and was disappointed to find it all locked up. The signs say open Monday-Saturday.

I've been twice and have been unable to get a seat and eat as a consequence.

Hopefully it was be less rammed tomorrow and I will try it again. Footfall certainly isn't a problem.
