Tonight, Saturday 13th
Anyone know where all that noise across town is coming from? Sounds like yesterday's Disco Music well bloody loud! Can hear it from a few miles away!

Well, you would think the fairground wanted to be on people's good side to entice local people in - their antics last night had the opposite effect - it made the venue appear cheap and desperate. The number of complaints over this intrusion into thousands of people's private lives are massive. Thousands of people affected for a mere couple of dozen who turned up. Way beyond the legal decibel limits! The guy at the venue said he had a licence until 4am - thick git. There were so many complaints to the Police, it was stopped at 9pm.

There were hundreds there all day , and though it was advertised to finish at 9pm it went on till 10:30pm. The police were not in attendance.
I was there.
Your first post stated you didn't know what was going on yet now you're describing its appearance.

You seem to know an awful lot about the event considering you asked what the noise was about?
Massive amount of complaints, where? to whom?
I don't live anywhere near town but can hear clearly the music for the firework championships, I could hear the music for the recent festival but heard nothing last night so can't have been that loud.
Its summer, people enjoying themselves, music until 22:30 some people need to get a life if that's all they've got to moan about!

Who’d ever have thought it, loud music and the sound of families enjoying themselves at a seaside resort?
Maybe you should rethink your life choices, specifically whereabouts you chose to live.
The fun police strike again.

Some of those who were complaining felt impelled to seek out where the din was coming from and described what each had independently found. There has never been 'hundreds' of people there, that sounds like Sefton Council Calculations.

There is a legal decibel limit past which it does affect people's health and in some cases can be physically painful. This was such an event. Parties and celebrations are acceptable providing they are within the legal limits.
In Southport, sound carries for many miles, it affects thousands of people, young children trying to get to sleep, elderly people who are ill, people who have to be up early for work, etc., It is the enjoyment of a few deaf people compared to thousands of normal hearing people. So learn not to be so selfish!

Anyone who was there, like me, will disagree with you.
Hopefully its sucess will lead to more events like this. Fantastic to see an area that usually deserted by 7pm being packed and alive with music and enjoyment until late in the evening.

So what is the legal decibel limit, and what level were they operating at?
How could deaf people enjoy it if they don’t have the ability to hear anything?

They probably need you to head up the marketing, as you've got luring attention and engagement down to a fine art!

Are you saying that you enjoy your neighbours having loud parties? Because that is all that it is.
There are only a certain type of people in Southport, who are brought up in a loud, alcoholic environment and who come to believe that only by socialising with like people, they can form friendly relationships, and find people that they can totally rely on. "Anyone who was there, like me"
A feature of these people is that they are so insecure they will drink until they either passout/throw up or both, because that makes them even more popular among their friends. As the surrounding music gets louder - so do they. It is the old story - alcohol gives these people the courage and confidence that they lack.
It is flawed thinking - because if suddenly they were to give up alcohol - those friends that they have cultivated, even over years - drop them like a red hot brick. The reason being that if people manage to become tee-total, their 'friends' see that person as having more back bone than they have. This is unforgiveable!
Basically this 'new' place is just another bar! Where loud music and flowing alcohol make clients forget their problems temporarily, by giving them each superhuman courage. Similar to the youth gangs who rely on illegal drugs to obtain the same highs.
Loud noise and poor behaviour are classed as anti-social behaviour because the majority of society have to suffer for the few.
I think the venue may have huge objections due to its noise levels. Anything with a noise level over 85dB is harmful to human hearing - that noise last night was around 100dB - 110dB. Apart from the number of complaints that I have read, there will also be huge objection from those living on Rotten Row, who page huge Council taxes for the privilege of being blasted out of their homes.
I have no knowledge what sort of person you are - but I bet you are from a city. If that is correct, why did you move to a comparatively quiet town if you miss the noise so much?

Cities aren't noisy - it's the traffic that is.

That is a small part of it. Cities have many venues close together - they compete with one another. In so doing, they each use sound to persuade people that loudest is best.
In quieter areas, people socialise by discussion, and from that comes learning, and they are not afraid to express their opinions. Loud noise drowns out learning.
