USA now trying to ruin English Football.

Two American owned clubs in the Premier League, with a mouthpiece who was CEO at one of the two clubs, are trying to highjack the premier league and not only that they want to run it.

As far as I am concerned they should be threatened with expulsion from the English FA and the Premier League unless they call off this Americanisation and franchising of football. The Main assailants on English Football Liverpool are already saying who can be in the league. No room for Villa who thrashed them last weekend but a place for their feeder club Southampton.
Aston Villa were one of the Football League founder clubs they have more of a call than bleeding Liverpool.
Also these herberts want to be able to block club takeovers they don't want their opponents being bought by some Super Rich backer and challenge them Hypocrites.

The Glazers and the Fenn St Gang should stick with their own Asylum of a Country and dictate their chosen sport whichever it is at the moment.

I'd be happy for the Glazers to eff off back where they came from. I don't know much about Liverpool's owners, sorry.

OK, I support one of these 'elite' clubs, it was my local team, but football is more than 6 rich clubs holding the rest of the PL and the league to ransom.

    It stinks.

I remember years ago, when soccer was becoming popular in the US, that the Americans wanted to change the rules of the game as they didn't think enough goals were scored and the game wasn't exciting enough for them. So nothing changes.

Rick Parry is the chairman of the English Football League and is acting in the best interests of the clubs outside the top flight who are awash with money. Where as the EFL clubs face total ruin because of CV19.

He is independent of the two clubs, but the two clubs you refer to support his proposal.

What do you suggest should change to the current structure of fee sharing between the clubs, ensuring the lower league clubs have a chance of survival?

In the current model few if any will be here much longer.

Dropping 2 clubs is only the tip of the iceberg, once they get their way another 6 will go then they will start turning the screw on the smaller clubs, League 1 & 2 will go and you will be lucky to see an Brit in the PL which in turn will have a knock on effect on the national teams.
The proposal would give the lower clubs a guaranteed 25% of all future tv deals. the last tv deal was in the region of 5bn. How can the proposal be bad for the lower leagues?

They also couldn't believe that you could play 45 minutes without any breaks for adverts, so they wanted to have 3 x 30 minute periods of play so that you could have two 'half time' breaks. They lobbied FIFA to do this when they hosted the 1994 World Cup, but FIFA told them to 'do one'.

I lost interest in the game some years ago amid all the reports of corruption in the English League - it must go on among many all across the World. Football management needs a complete overhaul - right from the bottom up - there should be a complete new League introduced with very strict rules. The paying fans should be shown more respect and be allowed to see an honest sport. The obscene money paid to footballers and for transfers should be reduced to sensible levels to allow for the game to be played as a sport not as a means to produce some low talented Prima Donna to market football paraphernalia. Let each country develop their own talented players, each team should be a local team and illegal drugs should be banned completely.. Put some real competition back into the game.

Guaranteed until the next reformat, once in the hands of the big seven it will be different.

If you add Roy Keane and Norman Hunter to your list, you've got a full set of players who set out to injure opponents.

They are also after cricket now. They want to join the ICC as they see a lucrative opportunity down the line. If they don't think football is interesting enough Lord knows what they'll want to do to cricket.

That has been going on for years, it is all TV money, they've been playing cricket for TV most of the summer, the money ( & the bookies ) is in Asia.

MM! Fancy the tough guys, do you?? They were actually thugs. No place for them in the modern game. Pity is that most of them were good skilled footballers.
Just be yourself, no one else is better qualified!!

I think you're right, as she has said before about her desire for rugby players.

I dont think it will happen , certainly in its present form . And any changes would have to be ratified surely.
But theres no smoke without fire .

I think they should let the 'top' European clubs, including the English 'big six' form their own European Super league and let them get on with it.

After a couple of years with no promotion and relegation, and with Man Utd playing Bayern Munich for the fourth time that season, it'll be like the tennis, with Djokovic playing Nadal every other week, and people just won't pay for it.

I'd rather watch a competitive English Championship game rather than a millionaires' exhibition match any time.
