WhatsApp delays terms of service update after user backlash

After Elon Musk's call last week for us all to switch to Signal owing to pending WhatsApp privacy issues, I installed Signal and immediately uninstalled, not liking it.

I then contacted WhatsApp and updated the terms of service immediately, fearing that in the weeks to come there will be confusion, and not wanting to risk any interruption of service.

What will other posters who use WhatsApp do: switch to Telegram or Signal, wait and see if the decision to change the terms of service will be reversed given the furore, or just go with the flow?

Btw, when I contacted WhatsApp support to get the update, this standard message was included in their reply:

'Hi,

Thanks for your message.

We are aware that there are many sources falsely indicating that your WhatsApp messages will no longer be safe and this has caused you to worry. This is not true. We encourage our users to familiarize themselves with our Privacy Policy which details...'

I heard that WhatsApp is being closed down, saw it on the news the other week.

btw it is also my understanding that the current data collection by Messenger makes WhatsApp look like a pearl of innocence and decorum
