After going 'virtual' for the last two years, Rainbow Hub’s most popular fundraising event – the annual Ramble - is back live for 2022!
And better still, it'll be started by Britain’s Got Talent finalist and local celebrity, Steve Royle as the Mawdesley based charity aims to raise thousands of pounds to help continue providing its specialist services for children and young people with physical and neurological disabilities.
This fantastic event, supported by Ventbrook Ltd, ViewSonic UK, Quantum Healthcare and Care Preference, takes place on Saturday, 21st May starting and finishing at Bishop Rawstorne High School, Croston.
Participants can choose the 5 or 11 mile walk starting at 10am with registration from 8.45 am and everyone will be given a Rainbow Hub T shirt so it will be a colourful event but fancy dress is still welcome.
There will be entertainment whilst the participants register and warm up with local personal trainer, Kirsty Rimmer, plus music from DJ Jonathan Knowles; refreshments including burgers, ice cream, hot and cold drinks will be available.
Many of the children who attend Rainbow Hub will also be taking part in their own personal challenges. For some, this will be an Obstacle challenge involving them having to negotiate stepping on and off large stepping stones, lifting their feet up as they step through a raised ladder, walking over a mini seesaw, using balance bars, pulling themselves along on their tummy using their arms and lots of other tasks.
All of this may be natural to us but is extremely difficult for the children who attend Rainbow Hub who are faced with balance and coordination
challenges, together with physical disabilities which mean moving and walking is so much harder for them.
The entry fee for the Ramble is £15 for adults (16 and over) and £5 for children, free for those in wheelchairs and pushchairs. Dogs welcome. Entrants will receive a confirmation email containing event instructions, training information, fundraising tips and a sponsor form.
