We can confirm that officers are in Southport attending to an incident this morning, Friday 24 June.
At around 10.50am, we were called to flats on Albert Road to reports of a suspected grenade being found during building works. Enquiries are ongoing.
A cordon is in place and Albert Road has been closed, at the junctions with North Street and Alexander Road. Please avoid the area.
Traffic being diverted from entering Albert Road at Lord St

Cost a bomb to close off the roads to dispose of the alleged grenade,they should throw it into the council offices in Bootle to see if was a "Live" grenade or not.
