Police are appealing for information and issuing advice following a number of vehicle thefts in the Southport area in the past few days.

These include a purse stolen from a car on Curzon Road in the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday 11 April); attempts made to access cars in Langford Drive in the early hours of yesterday morning; and money stolen from a car on Eastbourne Road on Thursday 8 April, which was reported today.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Community Policing Sergeant Andy Dentith said: “We’re aware of a number of recent incidents in which insecure vehicles have been targeted by opportunists in the area. We understand the worry and inconvenience that this causes and are gathering all information as we speak.

“If you have seen similar suspicious behaviour or theft and have yet to come forward, please do so via our social media desk @MerPolCC, Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or call 999 if a crime is in progress.

“Your home CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage could be vital in tracking down those responsible and bringing them to justice. We have had recent success in the arrest and conviction of such offenders so your information really makes a difference.
