A crime scene has been put in place after a body was found in West Street yesterday.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Enquiries are ongoing to formally identify the man and inform his next of kin.

"At this time officers are treating the death as unexplained and a post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death."
