Day one and newly elected Conservative councillor Sinclair d’Albuquerque is already working hard for his new constituents!

The saga of the unadopted road, Knob Hall Lane, has been going on for decades with Sefton Council and the residents in a continuous cycle of arguments around who should be responsible for maintaining the lane.

Sinclair said, “the fact that the council granted planning permission to two large residential developments and continue to grant permission for properties to be built where the only means of access is over the unadopted road is quite frankly, ridiculous!”.

“A situation where the residents of Knob Hall Lane have to grant and allow access to council vehicles, over a section of road the residents themselves are responsible for maintaining, from their own pocket, in order for the council to service the adjoining adopted roads, has quite rightly angered many property owners”.

Sinclair continued “I have spent a great deal of time in the run up to the local elections, listening to residents and this was clearly a huge problem. Together with fellow ward councillors and Conservative colleague, councillor Mike Morris (pictured alongside Sinclair), we are hoping to finally get the Knob Hall Lane saga resolved”.

“I am honoured and proud to have been elected to serve the constituents of Cambridge ward and will work hard to re-pay the debt I owe the residents who have put their trust in me to deliver for them”.

Sinclair was elected to represent the constituents of Cambridge Ward in the local government elections which took place on Thursday 6th May 2021.

The council have previously offered to adopt it so long as the residents all make a contribution towards it. The residents refused. Why should the council take on a road in such a poor state because the residents haven't maintained it?
Perhaps the King of Rock and Roll could explain.

Thousands of properties are built along unadopted roads, the residents knew this before they bought, the Council will not adopt unless it is up to standard and conforms to regs.

There is no argument. The maintenance of an unadopted road is the residents' responsibility.
Perhaps the "party of home ownership" ought to be reminding these homeowners of their responsibilities, as it's clear from the state of the road they haven't been honouring them.
It would be a dereliction of duty for a councillor to expect the council to take on responsibility for those repairs.
Or does he want his first act as councillor for the "party of fiscal responsibility" to be landing the council with a bill for £300k+ ?

He's trying to set himself up as a new broom fighting for his residents against the Bootle Mafia & their dereliction of duty.

    Indeed.
He'll be railing against the injustice of it all when the council tell him that they won't foot the bill for repairs that are the residents' responsibility. The residents will then love him for achieving nothing.
