After reporting Crescent Road's surface issues over the past year, then recently highlighting that Micro-Surfacing was scheduled to take place, Lee Durkin is overjoyed for local residents at the reassessment of Crescent Road and the works being carried out.
He first reported it in August 2020 and again in February 2021 after motorists, cyclists and even pedestrians contacted him with their concerns.
Birkdale’s Lee said: “I am truly delighted that Dowhigh who are one of the largest independent public works companies in the region when it comes to roads have assessed that micro-surfacing as stated on the Sefton council's website is going to be upgraded to resurfacing after it assessed the condition of Crescent Road.
"Dowhigh have completed projects including Lord Street and are currently carrying out works on Marine Drive, they are clearly a company that has the community at heart.”
He added: “Crescent Road has been an issue raised time and time again and at long last thanks to commitment we will see a result we can all be satisfied with I brought this issue up last year and after some remedial works were carried out the Road surface fell into deeper disrepair which led to me raising the issue again. I was thankful to Mr Murray from Dowhigh for taking time out of his schedule to meet with me and explain the works which will take place this week to ensure Crescent Road returns to a safe useable Road and that Grosvenor Road will also have remedial works.
"The Crescent Road section will see works commence on Tuesday 20th April and I would take this opportunity to thank both Dowhigh and Sefton Council in seeing this work carried out.”
The smoother the surface, the faster they go.....and some go too fast down there already!
Perhaps this chap can organise a couple of speed-trap sessions on this route, after the resurfacing. Or will its long-suffering residents be left with a de-facto motorway on their doorsteps?

I wish you'd just crawl away under a dark rock somewhere. Pathetic little man

I do hope there is a cycle path down there. No.... wait a minute....they don't get bloody used anyway.
Not as nasty as the reckless motorists who, completely ignoring the 20mph limit along there, deliberately exceed it by a huge margin!
And what about the reckless cyclists who go through red lights, cycle the opposite way on one-way streets, cycling on pavements and ignoring the majority of road signs? Cycling up the left side of vehicles espcially trucks and complain when they get knocked over, injured or killed.
Shut up and go away!

Oh I drive to the speed limit, and yes I'll exceed the limit slightly and I'm happy to admit that. But I don't jump red lights and make an absolute nuisance of myself on the road and to other road users.

Typical deflection tactics from the motoring fraternity.....Speeding cyclists are not a problem on Crescent Road - duh!
Motoring Fraternity ? Try responsible road users against idiotic cyclists who have no regard for anyone else, yes there are the same in every walk of life including drivers funnily enough the "Professional" drivers seem to be the worst of that lot.
Oh by the way I saw the biggest empty head in the world yesterday on one of those recumbent cycles which are so low they are inviting a date with the undertaker and he was dressed all in black so as not to stand out when you could see him. Cycling has changed dramatically over the years it now seems to be the conveyance of the mentally deranged which is upheld perfectly by you. And no he didn't have a little flag fluttering above him in an attempt to make himself visible.
