Local Member of Parliament, Damien Moore, welcomes the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) announcement of a £150,000 Youth Investment Fund (YIF), with funds being provided to the Atkinson and Sefton North District Scouts Waterside Lodge. The YIF fund will be used to upgrade and refurbish educative and sporting facilities to support recreational opportunities and accessibility across Southport.

On February 3rd, 2024, DCMS announced the third tranche of YIF funding, which will provide over £90 million to rebuild or refurbish 140 projects across the country.

The Youth Investment Fund represents a £300,000 fund for rebuilding or renovating up to 300 youth facilities over the next two years, with the aim of supporting an additional 45,000 young people per year to access youth facilities.

The objective of YIF is to create, expand, and improve local youth facilities and their services, with the aim of driving positive outcomes for young people, including improved mental and physical wellbeing, and skills for life and work.

DCMS’s YIF funding will provide £125,793.00 to The Atkinson to refurbish their educative facilities, enabling 40 additional pupils per year. £25,200.00 will also be provided to Sefton North District Scouts Waterside Lodge, to renovate and expand facilities for an additional 8 attendees annually.

Commenting, Local Member of Parliament for Southport, Damien Moore, said:

“The Government has a strong record on raising skills and literacy across the UK, with fluency, literature, and numeracy increasing dramatically under Conservative stewardship.

“I remain steadfast in fulfilling our ambitious commitment to achieving the 90% schooling compliance in providing; and exceeding, expected reading, writing, and mathematical standards by 2030.

“I welcome DCMS’ complementary Stage 3 YIF investment into Southport’s Atkinson and Waterside Lodge; continuing and reinforcing my longstanding campaign to improve Children’s educational and healthcare services across Southport.”

I didn't mention Starmer. I just mentioned that our Damien is a supporter of the shortest serving PM in history.

More that Damien is disciple of the devilishly incompetent Liz Truss. Not more, or Moore, but less useful than a lettuce.
Just waiting for him to welcome the opening of the gates of hell, which is what his re-election would be.

Soooooo many Labour voters are in for the mother of all rude awakenings!
I hear Starmer is sending around script sheets to shadow ministers with strict instructions that they spend at least one hour a day, in front of a mirror, practicing their lines and suitably sincere frowns.

The lines all start with 'Because of 14 years of Tory mismanagement we will be unable to (insert broken promise here) and end with a revised, downgraded, suitably vague promise.

I heard that all promises will be downgraded to "It is our ambition to......", and then if elected, and after 5 years have elasped, it will be "We haven't been able to fullfil any of our ambitions, but if you re-elected us again, will be bring you another 5 years of unfulfilled ambitions".

Give the Conservatives credit, they have managed to fill rivers and seas with sewage, something Damien Moore voted for.
It does seem more than symbolic of their time in office.

Hey Gnasher, here’s something for you to chew on. Do you remember the Labour years, 13 if I remember correctly when your mate Bliar and the other fella were in charge of the rivers and seas with sewage. Yeah there was loads of the Brown stuff being spread all over the country. Thankfully it didn’t stick around for long.

Not wanting to be too pedantic but the weak Tories haven't filled the rivers and seas with sewage.

They have though given us all the information and monitoring that we didn't have to find out about it.

The now informed reality that we need to spend many many billions to upgrade our Victorian system which has been ignored for decades is more a plus.

As with many public services and their management, the Tories have failed miserably to bring a "big stick" to them but I suppose the expensive knocks of Covid and Ukraine don't help.

Still, we can look forward to our new government this year telling us we are getting large rises in our water bills to pay for the upgrade, good luck no one will be popular saying that.

It won't be cheap and will cause major disruption.

The punters are already suffering with high energy bills because of the faux green lunacy.
