Sefton Council, alongside NHS Southport and Formby CCG and NHS South Sefton CCG, has supported COVID-19 testing across the Borough since the start of July and will continue to ensure that there is a testing provision throughout the winter.

Testing for people with symptoms
Across December, drive-through Mobile Testing Units will operate once again. These sites are for those with symptoms – a new persistent cough, a high temperature or a loss of sense of taste or smell – and can be booked by calling 119 or visiting www.nhs.uk/coronavirus.
Planned dates and locations may be subject to change if testing is required in other locations:

  • Tues 1 – Litherland

In addition, local walk-through test centres are open every day from 8am to 8pm, providing easy access to COVID-19 tests for people who do not have access to a car and for those who have symptoms and should not travel by public transport.
The four local test centres are located at:

  • Bootle Town Hall L20 7AA
  • Crosby Library Car Park, Haigh Road L22 OLQ
  • Netherton Activity Centre, Glovers Land L30 3TL
  • Southport Town Hall PR81DA

Those with symptoms seeking tests, need to book ahead of going to either the walk-through or drive-through sites. It’s quick and easy to book by calling 119 or going online at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus.
Asymptomatic testing
Sefton residents can get a test if they don’t have coronavirus symptoms at a separate walk-through facility at Aintree Racecourse as part of Liverpool’s Mass Testing Pilot scheme.
This is not the same as the drive-through mobile unit and the two sites are on different parts of the racecourse to ensure no crossover of those with symptoms and those without.
Residents do not need to make an appointment at the ‘Asymptomatic’ testing facility which is open every day from 7am to 7pm.
People who have the ‘lateral flow’ tests can expect to get their results from about 30 minutes to two hours after getting tested. They will receive their results by text or email soon after leaving the test centre.
