Police can confirm that detectives have launched an investigation and arrested a woman after a man died in a house fire in Thornton at the weekend.
At shortly after 7am on Saturday 10 August, emergency services were called to a house fire in Saffron Mews. On arrival, a man in his 60s was removed from the property and taken to hospital.
The man was sadly pronounced deceased in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 13 August.
His next of kin are aware and are being supported by officers as our enquiries continue.
A Post Mortem will take place to establish the cause of his death.
Following enquiries, a 50-year-old woman from Formby was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released on conditional bail.
