We’re looking forward to welcoming you back and have everything in place so you have the best day out.

We’ve been accredited with the ‘Good to Go’ stamp of approval, which means we are operating within government guidelines and public health guidance for managing coronavirus risk.

We’re carefully managing the number of people on site and have a booking system in place. Our one way system around the grounds means that you can wander around safely enjoying the wildlife and all gates can be pushed open with hand washing stations and hand dryers available. The toilets by the play area, café, canoe safari and along the nature trail are all open and cleaned hourly. All the gates, hand rails, benches and signage are cleaned regularly throughout the day.

Before you set off on your wetland adventure, why not take a picture of the one-way map to help you explore.

If you want to beat the queues why not arrive a little earlier in the day. Early risers will be rewarded with the glorious sounds of spring bird song and a chance to catch our wetland wildlife waking. Or if you’d rather arrive later in the day, we are open until 6pm for you to have an early evening adventure.

Wildlife hides and spotting

Eight out of our ten hides, reedbed walk and viewing screens are open! Spring is an amazing time to discover wetland wildlife whether it is exploring our mile long reedbed walk listening for species like cetti’s warbler, sitting and viewing perching birds eat from our feeders, or overlooking the vast mere and marshlands as migrant waders breed, kingfishers feed and marsh harriers fly overhead. Read more about our latest sightings and our seasonal wildlife highlights for hints and tips to really make the most of your time here.

We are limiting numbers in our hides to keep you safe and have the best possible experience and in line with government guidance are asking that face masks be worn in all indoor spaces.

Paddle and play

Canoe safari
Grab a paddle and take to the water in our award winning canoe safari. Embark on the canoe via a self-service jetty and set off your watery adventure searching for moorhens, mallards, fish, water voles and the illusive kingfisher. Open everyday from 11am to 4pm, you do not need to book in advance and the minimum age is 5. There is an extra charge for this attraction, payable via a card machine at the canoe lodge.

Play areas

From zip wire screams and scramble net laughs and treehouse trailblazing, our huge adventure playground is a total rush for ages 3 to 12. The play area is cleaned and disinfected twice a day so you can be sure of a safe experience, this does mean it is closed for a very short time period, but it’s worth the wait!

Pond dipping

At the weekends between 1.30pm and 3pm, delve into our ponds and see what creatures are lurking beneath. Can you find the slippery newts or dinosaur like dragonfly nymphs in this free activity? No booking is required to take part but it is recommended to come later in the session to avoid the initial queue.
