This is the sad state of life in Southport at the moment. A homeless person asleep in the gardens outside Sainsburys and another one asleep in an alcove next to Sainsburys.

Sefton Council has an action plan to help rough sleepers to view click here.

Further along Lord Street the local drunks are at 8.00 am already swilling cheap cider just a stones throw from Southport Police Station.

That area is part of the alcohol free zone. Enforcement is not being carried out.

Most of these DO have somewhere to live, but are more often than not seen on the streets begging for money, especially at night time, hanging around busy areas, during the day they sleep off what they have drank the night before, picking up customers half drank bottles,or glasses of booze.

Absolute rubbish. Can you back this up with any evidence?

Donkey 22 , you need to get out more .
Johnybegood is correct , these people in most cases choose to be where they are . Very little has changed since the seventies , then people picked up dumps
    finished other people's drinks.
One of the biggest issues is people give.
If nobody gave . Guess what ?
I don't do charity , sympathy or pity.
None of which is helpful, help someone is great .

Most of these people don’t choose to be where they are, most of them have mental health problems.

Absolutely! I will meet you on Lord Street/Chapel Street and we will follow these people when they knock off from begging and join up with their look out colleague. I know where many of them live, I know where they stash their begging blankets etc., Your own eyes will become your evidence!

Four live down Scarisbrick New Road, one in Southbank Road, two live in flats behind Farmfoods, one in Duke Street, one in Portland Street, one in Balls place, one travels in by bike - five who travel down at various times catch the train home. All the local people know!

So, because you say so, I’m supposed to believe you? Erm I don’t think so. You honestly think I’m going to spend the day being creepy and stalk the local homeless population around the streets of Southport? Might be your idea of a good day out but sorry, I’m going to decline. You seriously need to get a life.

Greedy, self centred, uncampassionate. Wow what a lovely person you must not be.

    Donkey 22 ,
What don't you understand , if you don't give
money then they will go elsewhere .
There is system in place for these
    people to get help .
They choose to do what they do.

Because your talking complete and utter rubbish. The system is broken you fool. If it wasn’t broken we wouldn’t have people freezing to death on the streets because they have nowhere to live.
