This May, St. Joseph’s Hospice will hold its annual Will Month, which, this year, is being supported by its largest ever number of local solicitors.
Wills help people to get their affairs in order, gain peace of mind and ensure their wishes are carried out.
But, sadly, only a third of adults who die in Britain have a Will in place and this can be the source of great distress.
The decision to write a Will is a very personal one and is often triggered by a change in personal circumstances, such as getting married or having children. Sometimes people decide to write a Will because they have more complicated families or it can be because they know someone who has struggled when a loved one passed away without a Will.
St. Joseph’s Hospice’s Will Month is the perfect time to write or update a Will because every donation received during Will Month will help the hospice to provide its services free of charge to its patients and their loved ones.
Norma Young, head of fundraising for the hospice, said: “Wills are very important as they ensure that you decide what happens to your personal possessions, prevent family disagreements and, for unmarried couples, a Will makes sure everyone you love is adequately provided for.
"Wills also help with tax planning and provide a way for you to continue helping charities and good causes that you support during your lifetime.
“We have our largest ever group of solicitors taking part in this year’s Will Month, kindly giving up their time and expertise and inviting people to make a donation to St Joseph’s Hospice that is comparable to the usual solicitor’s fee.
“This opportunity is only available once a year, so please book your appointment early to avoid disappointment.”
To book an appointment to write or update your Will, please contact your preferred solicitor directly.
