Intrepid volunteers with a head for heights have been raising funds for a leading Sefton charity.
A team of 14 brave volunteers abseiled down the outside of Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral in support of Sefton 4 Good, and have already raised more than £1,500.
Team members who took on the 150-foot, free-fall drop over the vast great west door of the iconic building included staff from Sefton CVS, Sefton Council, Sefton Young Advisors, VOLA, Doris IT and Veterans in Sefton.
Sefton 4 Good is a charity initiative founded by Sefton CVS which encourages local people to come together and give their time, skills, money and resources to help local good causes.
The money raised is used to provide grants to local voluntary, community and faith groups across the borough, especially small groups or collaborative projects that include small organisations.
Since 2016 Sefton 4 Good has distributed more than £25,000 in grants to around 40 local groups, including the Plaza Community Cinema, Netherton Park Community Association, Ainsdale Community Care and Veterans in Sefton.
Sefton 4 Good staff say they are delighted with the response to the high-level cathedral fundraiser so far, but stress that there is still time to make a donation and help them reach their £2,000 target.
Mike Howlett, Senor Citizenship and Volunteering Officer with Sefton CVS, commented: “This was a very exciting and successful event thanks to the efforts of our team members, and the sponsorship support they received from family, friends and colleagues.
“The project was another excellent example of people coming together to support groups across Sefton who make a real difference to the lives of people in their local communities, often including some of the borough’s most vulnerable residents.”
