Several youths have been caught on camera after climbing over the gates on the Pier.

The owner of the Pier Cafe commented...

Do you know where your children are and what they’re up to?
This evening we have had to leave our homes to travel back to the pier to chase off three youths trespassing on to the pier and hanging around the new concession.
Please have a word with your kids. The police were called. If you’re caught on the wrong side of the gates you WILL be arrested for trespassing on to an enclosed/locked space if you’re seen to be committing a crime!! There is absolutely no reason to scale the gates of somebody’s business after hours unless you’re up to no good!!
We have live cctv on all of our phones. Please don’t chance it !

Most of these yobs come from dysfunctional families who could not care less what their brats are doing or where they are. Heavy fines might change their attitude when criminal acts are committed by their out of control children.

I have sympathy with the owner's position, but trespass is a very complex area of law and guidance should be sought from a solicitor where appropriate. Bandying about hollow threats of arrest won't help much.

That said, these kids shouldn't have been beyond the locked gates.

You need to do something more onerous, like cutting off their sky tv account.
