On the 11th May, the first Cross Bay Walk of 2019 will start from Arnside Promenade with new guide Michael Wilson and Rainbow House are organising a group to take part to raise funds for the charity.
The picturesque walk will start at 10 am and takes around 3 to 4 hours across the beautiful sands of Morecambe Bay finishing at Kents Bank, nr Grange-over-Sands.
The walk is roughly 8/10 miles across the beautiful sands of Morecambe Bay and can only be attempted safely in the company of the official guide to the sands. It involves two river crossings and negotiating gullies; participants can expect to get wet up to their knees!
Children who can walk the distance unaided and are aged 8 – 15 years are welcome.
This will not only be the first walk of the year but also the first for new guide Michael Wilson who has taken over from Cedric Robinson who was guide for Kent Sands for 56 years and who will continue to provide an advisory role.
Michael is a local fisherman, as were his ancestors, and he comes with considerable knowledge and has helped Cedric with local walks in the past.
The cost of the walk is £12 per adult, £7 per child (8 – 15 yrs) and £1 for dogs - anyone who would like to join the Rainbow House group for an unforgettable experience and help raise funds, should contact Emma Parish on 01704 823276 email: e.parish@thelegacy-rainbowhouse.com
