If you follow Woodlands Animal Sanctuary on Facebook, you may have seen the photos of the three kittens rescued from a garden in Liverpool at the beginning of this month. These three kittens were worryingly cold, hungry and dirty, covered in fly eggs and missing their two siblings who had already died, prior to the rescue.
After being warmed up and given the medication they needed an experienced member of the team volunteered to take these babies home with her to give them the hourly feeds and monitoring they needed for the first 24 hours. This was then reduced to feeding every 2 hours once the critical, initial 24 hours was successfully negotiated.
A few weeks on and these kittens are doing very well indeed, still under the experienced watchful eye of Alex, who is still taking them home with her to provide their care even when she isn’t in work. This is the level of dedication that the team at Woodlands demonstrate daily.
This level of care is not cheap, even though Alex is doing it on a voluntary basis, the milk, weaning food and medications still need to be paid for, and the charity are exceptionally grateful to everybody who donated to their cause on Facebook.
This incredibly successful appeal shows these babies are not only held dear in the hearts of those working at Woodlands but their supporters’, who sent their love, best wishes and donations to them. Following this, the charity has taken the decision to put some of this money towards an incubator.
This piece of equipment is not cheap, but in rescue cases such as this, it would prove an invaluable tool, to assist with the safe warming of extremely cold animals on admittance, which then means that any treatment needed can be started as soon as possible when they have reached an acceptable temperature.
Therefore, the whole team wanted to say the biggest thank you, to everyone who commented, reacted, shared and donated towards these gorgeous babies – who can now start to look forwards to the day they get welcomed into their new loving forever home. Woodlands would like every single person who donated to know that their money saved these kittens lives, and will be invested into saving many more.
Although the charity has had record numbers of kittens this year, they do have a waiting list for kittens, but if you think you would like to welcome a cat into your life and home then visit their website to fill in their rehoming application form. The whole process is conducted in a Covid safe way to keep yourselves and their team safe. http://www.woodlandsanimalsanctuary....rehoming/cats/
