The crew carried out realistic casualty care scenario training on Southport Beach recently.
Using trauma make up on two volunteers who had been briefed how to behave, we were able to simulate injured horse riders.
Our crew first had to locate the casualties before using their casualty care skills to treat and evacuate them.
It is important that our crew practice their casualty care skills to prevent skill fade.
The introduction of realistic looking injuries prepares them for what they may face in a real life situation in the future.
