As part of the Liverpool City Region Bus Strategy, Merseytravel, working with bus operators, is carrying out a regular cycle of reviews of bus services, supported and commercial, in each district, with the aim of getting more people using the bus by creating a better bus experience.

A key part of those network reviews is the consultation process that helps develop the final network with valued input from stakeholders, bus users and the wider public.

While these reviews have looked at the all services across each district, there are occasions where operators may look to make changes to their commercial services on a route-by-route basis, as well as any changes to individual supported routes outside of the network review process.

As part of the Liverpool City Region Bus Alliance, Stagecoach and Arriva have recognised the value of consultation and have pledged to consult in advance on any significant changes to their commercial services, where possible.

In the Merseyside Region, operators have committed to limit changes to four key dates, where possible, throughout the year to stabilise the network and build confidence in bus services. In advance of these dates, consultation on any proposed changes will take place to help inform operators and Merseytravel of the potential impact they will have.

Stagecoach's Wirral Network Changes
Stagecoach are consulting on their intention to revise their network services in Wirral from 1 September 2019. This relates to services 1, 2, 22, 38, 41, 42 & X8. Stagecoach would like to give the public the opportunity to comment about how you use the services or what you would wish to be improved. It is currently proposed that service 22 will no longer serve Arrowe Park Hospital or Moreton, instead operating via Irby and Greasby to West Kirby. Please see the link below to complete the survey.

The survey closes at 12pm on 24 June 2019.

Arriva 61 (Bootle - Aigburth)
Arriva are consulting on their intention to change service 61 which operates between Bootle and Aigburth Vale. The service is suffering with punctuality and reliability problems during the peak periods. In an attempt to rectify this, they propose to change the service in both directions between 7:30am and 9:30am and 2:30pm and 6pm Monday to Friday to omit Prescot Road and Broad Green Road in the Old Swan area, and run the service via Queens Drive between East Prescot Road and the Rocket. These journeys would renumbered 61A. The proposed change is to be implemented on 1st September 2019.

It is anticipated that this change will help to improve the punctuality and reliability of the service during peak times going forwards. Arriva would like to give the public the opportunity to comment about how you use the service and/or may be affected by this change for their consideration.

Arriva 38

Arriva are consulting on their intention to change services 38 and 38B which run between St Helens and Rainford. hey propose to operate all journeys via Kiln Lane and Bleak Hill Road on a half hourly frequency, with each journey numbered as service 38. This would mean that St Helens Cemetery would no longer be served. The route was originally changed some 12 months ago to help combat the road work issues at Windle Island. Now that the road works have been completed it is Arriva's intention to revert it back via Kiln Lane. The proposed change is to be implemented on 1st September 2019.

The services currently operate at a loss and are unsustainable to operate as they do at present going forwards. Arriva would like to give the public the opportunity to comment about how you use the services and/or may be affected by this change for their consideration.

The consultation will close on 26 June 2019 and the feedback will then be considered by the operator.
