In recent weeks the Education Department has released the latest 2018 Key Stage 2 figures results for primary schools which has seen 9 schools in the constituency see an increase in the annual results, contributing to a rise in the national average from 61% to 64%.
The results demonstrate the Conservative Government’s aim of bringing England’s primary school curriculum closer to that of countries with the most successful education systems.
‘It’s great to see that the standards of education across Southport have risen in the last year, with some schools achieving nearly a 20% increase on pupils achieving the expected standard of reading, writing and mathematics. I believe this is a great reflection of the hard work schools and teachers have undertaken in the last year, and I will continue to work with them to build on this progress.’
The schools in Southport who are to be congratulated for their hard work are:
Kings Meadow Primary School and Early years Educational Centre (2017: 57% 2018: 75%)
St Phillip’s Church of England Primary School (2017: 57% 2018: 73%)
Marshside Primary School (2017: 57% 2018: 68%)
St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School (2017: 76% 2018: 87%)
