A man has been charged in connection with a robbery in Southport last week when three people were targeted.
At around 10.30pm on Monday 2 May, it was reported two men, aged 18 and 19, and a 17-year-old female were approached by two male offenders on West Street, Southport.
One of the offenders was holding a Stanley knife, and the pair demanded a mobile phone before taking a coat and bank card belonging to one of the victims.
Officers attended and a blade was recovered for forensic examination.
Following enquiries, Lewis King, 18 years, of Waterside, Netherton was arrested and has since been charged with two counts of robbery, one of attempted robbery and one of possession of a bladed article in a public place.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Monday 9 May.

Surely this is armed robbery!!!
not possession of a bladed article,..... it's a knife, and it wasn't attempted, it was robbery they stole items.
Are they frightened of charging criminals with serious crime???

Armed robbery isn’t a specific offence.
Same for possession of a knife, no such offence, it falls under Possession of a bladed article, anything which has a blade or is sharply pointed, except a folding pocket knife. Note however that even a folding pocket knife is covered by the section if the cutting edge of its blade is longer than three inches.
The article states he was charged with 2 counts of robbery! The attempted robbery is referring to the unsuccessful attempt at stealing the phone I imagine.
