As part of the response to increased vehicle crime and burglaries in the Southport area, officers from Sefton Targeted Team have been conducting overnight patrols in the area.
A number of stop searches have been made and in the early hours of Sunday 2nd May a man was arrested on suspicion of theft from a car in the Hillside area.
Khia Roberts of Leicester Street, Southport has since been charged with theft from a motor vehicle and as a result was given a total of 10 weeks in jail, due to combining a previous suspended sentence with time for this offence.
Vehicle owners are reminded to always remove items of value from vehicles before parking up for the night and to double check that cars have been left locked.
Owners of high value or prestige cars are advised to add extra measures to their vehicle security, such as gate pillars, wheel clamps or steering wheel/gear lever locks.

Not long enough, and all security measures are pointless if the little shits break into your house and steal the keys, which would more than likely have the keys to additional measure you have taken.
Bassball bat in the bedroom is the best security measure. Little shits.
