Contractors for Sefton Council have now completed the work to the damage to pier and Marine Drive is now open again for traffic.

Marine Drive has been closed since September 7th when a lorry hit the underside of the pier causing serious damage.

Marine Drive may have opened, but what about the coast road between Weld Rd and Ainsdale? That part was still shut when I passed on Thursday!

Ahh good I am glad it’s opened and repaired ready for the next big truck to clock it one. Maybe they should put a gauge a few hundred yards down the road either side in the form of two posts either side of the road with a bell in the middle and if your vehicle hits and rings the bell you can’t proceed, either that or truck drivers take more notice of height restrictions and be aware how tall your lorry is .

Would'nt it be easier to LOWER the height restrictions ? To stop these drivers from attempting to drive under the pier in the first place.And put larger signage in place to make them aware of this,one by either entrance to the roundabout at Gelder Rose/Maccies,and another sign at the Pleasureland entrance /exit of Ocean Plaza..
