People are invited to come and see one of their new trains at Southport rail station on Saturday 23 October.
The train is back by popular demand after hundreds of people took the chance to step on board and experience the train for themselves when it went on display at Birkenhead North station last month.
The Liverpool City Region will be the first to own the new trains, which are set to modernise rail services and enhance the customer experience.
The trains boast a wide range of customer focussed features including pioneering sliding step technology, which creates step free access for all, dedicated bike storage areas, more space for wheelchairs, prams and luggage plus on board wi-fi.
Details
Saturday 23 October
Southport Rail Station, Chapel Street, Southport. PR8 1BE
10:00 to 14:00
During the event, the train will be parked at a fully accessible platform.
Staff will be on hand to talk through the?features of the new trains, designed and built by train manufacturer Stadler for the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.?
Visitors are asked to wear face coverings on board the train and platforms out of respect for others, unless exempt.
There is no parking at the station so visitors are advised to use public transport to get to and from the station.
And don't forget to send us your pictures @merseytravel - we'd love to see them!

Only a 4 carriage unit, when are they going to be able to accommodate the double units?

You only need to see a 4 carriage unit, it's only so you can see around it.
Platform and and rail extension towards M&S is needed before 8 car units can come into Southport.

I think they are 4 car and the car holds more people, so the intention is not to connect 2 sets together- it would be pretty rare that you would fill an 8 car train.
Extending the platforms would be a big problem at Moorfields and Central.
