After last week's euphoria for Fleetwood Hesketh SSC clinching their staggering seventh successive Division One title it saw a very low key week in the top flight of the Ormskirk & District Amateur Snooker League. In a normal fixture week which were the final matches of the current campaign it saw just one match contested due to English teams playing in the Champions League football the same evening. Incidentally, it was the Champions who played and they came up against Scarisbrick NSC and completed a very solid 5-1 triumph to complete their league season in style were they, very impressively, remained unbeaten and, incredibly, won eighteen of their twenty matches played and drew their other two and finishing with a match average of over four and a half points. This match saw Fleetwood's Chis Hoare grab the final 'Break of the Week' accolade of the campaign with a tremendous break of 59 in his frame win.
Chris's break began with a superb, long opening red ball pot which gained pinpoint position on the black ball. He soon dispatched that black and a further red and black where he played a nice controlled split on the cluster of reds. Those reds split really nice and Chris took a further four reds, all with high valued colours, with that usual flowing style of his coupled with very solid potting and precise positional play to quickly reach forty eight. Chris then produced an excellent centre pocket pot to

continue this fine break which was swiftly followed by the blue ball. He took a further red and high valued colour but after potting his ninth red of the break he, very unfortunately, committed a foul shot to bring a very premature end to a superb break on fifty nine.
Chris made his debut in the Ormskirk League at the commencement of the 2014-15 campaign but has played in our neighbour league, the Southport League since the start of the 2007-08 campaign. Chris has been part of the Les Dodd SC/Southport Conservative Club and currently, Fleetwood Hesketh SSC team since then as they captured the First Division crown in all four seasons he has played and is very much a pivotal member of this highly successful side. He also earned himself a coveted spot on our League Centurion plaque with his sensational 100 break he compiled in week seventeen last term.
The other four matches will be played on Tuesday 23rd April were the runners-up slot is still very much in the melting pot with three teams still with a very good chance of taking it. I will write a final report on these last four matches of the season in the First Division that particular week.
Other notable breaks this week were – J Holmes (Fleetwood Hesketh SSC) 37 & M Brown (Fleetwood Hesketh SSC) 35.
The Division One Merit League saw Red Lion Social Club B lift the title last week so it's many congratulations to them again, they finished on 107 points.Remaining in second spot are Scarisbrick NSC who despite their heavy defeat this particular week still have a chance of the runners-up slot, they lie on 101 points. Lathom & Burscough RBL despite defeat last Monday evening and having their free week that week continue in third place on 98 points. The twenty third week updated table can be found below.

    Division 2
With just one round of matches left to play in the Second Division it still sees St Cuthberts in a very strong position to make a return to the top flight at the first time of asking. This particular week saw them go into battle with Stanley Club B and after a tense battle it saw both sides unable to be divided as a 3-3 stalemate was recorded at the end of the evening. The contest was always a close affair as there was never any more than a frame in the match. This outcome sees their advantage cut to four points but that still remains a very healthy advantage and they need just three points from their final match to become Division Two Champions.
Skelmersdale Wardens A continue to push the leaders all the way for the crown and engineered a very impressive seventeenth victory of the current campaign with a solid 4-2 home success over Aughton Institute C and made it three wins on the bounce taking a whole fourteen points from a possible eighteen. This result still sees them in with a chance of becoming Champions but they will need a very positive outcome in their last match coupled with the leaders faltering to have a realistic chance as they sit those four points off the pace.

Aughton Institute D continue to end their campaign very strongly as they produced another solid performance with a 4-2 away win at the expense of Stanley Club C. They quickly raced into a 2-0 lead but were pegged back to 2-2 going into the final two frames of the encounter but they held their nerve to capture those last two frames to clinch their victory. This win was their fourth in as many matches and sees them remain in third slot in the league standings and lie four points clear of the team directly below them so a third place finish is looking a very distinct possibility.
Skelmersdale Wardens B clashed with club compatriots, Skelmersdale Wardens C in the final Skelmersdale 'Derby' match of the current campaign and after a good, competitive battle it saw the Skelmersdale B lads just have the upper hand with a 4-2 triumph to take the plaudits this time around. This outcome sees them move up two spots in the league proceedings and into a creditable fifth. The match also saw Skelmersdale C's Lee Sealey in fine form with a nice break of 26 in his frame win.
The other match played this particular week saw Aughton Institute B end their night with a fine 4-2 success over Farmers Club. The match saw the Aughton Institute B boys very quickly off the mark as they built up a 2-0 advantage then managed to maintain their two frame lead as they arrived at 3-1 with just the final two frames of the match to contest. The Aughton B side took one of those two frames to clinch their win. The result saw them move up one position in the league table. The match also saw Aughton B's Geoff Kerr in solid nick with a good break of 21 in his frame success.
Other notable break this week was – S Linsell (Skelmersdale Wardens C) 20.
