Southport FC are pleased to confirm that the planned works to the pitch will commence this Wednesday morning, after a final preparatory meeting which is due to take place tomorrow between club officials, and the pitch contractors M J Abbott.

Director Ian Kyle said “I am really pleased that we are full steam ahead now with the planned pitch renovations.

Since James Tedford and I picked up this project in April, there has been much unexpected legal red tape to deal with. If I have spent 2-3 hours a day making sure that this project got over the line, then James has spent two or three times that amount of time at least, and it is his drive that has really ensured that we reach this point.

We do also however owe huge thanks to a number of other people who have all helped massively with the administration and legalities that have been thrown at us. We have needed huge co-operation from Sefton Council, and in particular Suzanne Rimmer.

We do look forward to working with Sefton Council much more closely on similar projects from here on in.

Thanks must also go to amongst others Lee Davies at Football Foundation, Damien Moore MP and his caseworker Alex Rhead, David Harrison and Bob Lennon at Everton FC for their input and advice, Robin Kendall at 174 Law for his continued support with the necessary legal work and of course Phil for agreeing to fund the balance and enable the works to take place.

The players have repeatedly shown what they can do on good pitches, so hopefully this will give them every opportunity to perform to the best of their ability next season, particularly at home, which should in turn attract as many fans as possible to each and every home game.”

We will provide regular updates and photographs as the work progresses.
