Once again, we appeal to the public not to park cars on the Marine Drive slipway to the beach as it blocks the emergency access for emergency services.

Our volunteers have been called out six times already this week and blocking the access for our lifeboats costs valuable time.

Yesterday evening we were only just able to get our ILB through the gap whilst responding to people cut off by the tide. This evening again, there are vehicles left unattended on the double yellow lines.

It is great that people want to visit our beaches and we want you to enjoy them, but please consider where you leave your vehicles so you're not putting lives at risk.

Please also remember that there is no lifeguard service on Southport beach this year so our crew is being utilised more than ever before.

If they’re blocking emergency access on double yellows, the police should authorise the removal and impounding of these cars at their owners expense.

Don’t know what it is about parking this year, unfortunately many don’t seem to care that their parking could cost a life. Out here in the Peak district one village has lost it’s bus service due to tourist parking and the Police have come close to being assaulted for ticketing vehicles parked. By signs which say “you will be ticketed if you park here” but still they keep parking
