A Section 34 Dispersal Order has been issued around the Liverpool City Centre (seen on map) under the ASB, Crime and Policing Act 2014 following large gatherings in the area this evening. The order will be in place until 28th June.
Inspector Uren says: "We know a lot of Liverpool fans want to celebrate their Premier League win, but there is a time and a place for this - and this weekend is neither. Tonight we have seen masses of people flock to the Pier Head area heightening the risk of spreading covid-19.
We want you to have a good time, but only when that time is right so please continue following government guidelines. By no means should you completely ignore social distancing measures - we must act responsibly whatever the circumstance. Protect yourselves and each other."
