A second open public engagement session is being held at the Salvation Army Centre on Shakespeare Street, Southport today, November 30th between 4pm and 7pm.

A high attendance is expected for this session with people in the area covered concerned particularly with road closures as part of the plan.

A local facebook group 'Southport says NO to Rd blockages' are certainly hoping many people will attend to have their views heard, such as:

Road closures/modal filters do not suit the Demographic of Southport where there is a significantly higher number of older and disabled people.
Victorian roads aren't wide enough for bin wagons etc to turn around.
Delivery wagons, bin wagons, lorries etc reversing in residential streets will be dangerous.
Refer to your local business in a residential street and the essential delivery vehicles, lorrys etc
Lack of local knowledge will mean the current plan will INCREASE traffic at our primary schools.
Princes street is one way for a reason, locals understand this, the plans do not.
Narrowing of side streets on Eastbank is not wanted ir needed by pedestrians because of the resulting hold ups on East Bank St which will cause higher pollution because of cars start/stopping in 1st and 2nd gears.
We live in Portland St. as it stands under these proposals our only way out will be south towards Duke St. via Hampton, Sefton or Linaker St.
Earlier on this year they closed Hampton Rd because of a pot hole. It was closed for weeks, somebody moved the barricade in the end. There are still numerous pot holes on Hampton Rd. the chances are we will be forced to drive past Linaker St. school at rush hour. These proposals are totally nonsensical.
    Liveable neighborhood?
Having people been living in these neighbourhoods for hundreds of years without complaint?
If it ain't broken...why waste money trying to fix it?
    It's total nonsense.
I'm not in the proposed area- but the residents need to band together- there's no positives to this ridiculous waste of funding!
So just had this load of ***** through the door basically it says what they intend to do, inviting you to a meeting to put your views across but they don’t matter because in the end they intend to do what they propose anyway. Sefton council just going through the motions
Please, please join us Tomorrow Tuesday 30th November
    Yes to Pedestrians
    Yes to cyclists
    Yes to our planet
    NO TO CLOSURES!
A consultation, don't make me laugh, if it doesn't go the way sefton council wants they'll push ahead anyway, all of the decision makers don't even live here, pathetic beyond words

I'm sure the panel listening to concerns will nod and agree and then do as they damn well please. Good luck to the team against these silly proposals
