A new food cupboard has been set up in Southport at 5 Longford Road PR84JS, Birkdale (by Bedford Park).

Lucinda writes about this on their facebook page.

I'm from Southport myself, I grew up here but I moved over to Cheshire 2 years ago. During the pandemic, my friend Louise and I started a little fight against food waste project in our local area. The response has been so fantastic and we've had to very quickly expand. I knew there was a need for our service in Southport. Fortunately, I have the most supportive family and my parents Janet and Graham have very kindly taken on the responsibility of running The Cupboard @ Southport for us.

Here's how it works...we collect surplus food from various businesses. Many of the items are short dated, but are perfectly safe to eat. We will also have long dated, discontinued items available sometimes. Fresh loose fruit and veg, bread and more!
This service is here for everyone. Our focus is on fighting food waste, and sustainable living. It's a nice bonus that you may be able to save some money by rescuing food from us!

It's important to remember that we're not a foodbank. We can't guarantee what we will have in stock. However, we will always do our best to help where possible.
All of our cupboard dreams have come true!

Whitby Community Cupboard would like to proudly introduce the newest cupboard to our collection. You can find us at 5 Longford Road PR84JS, Birkdale (by Bedford Park).

The food here is free, please come and help yourselves. Bring a bag. The Cupboard will be topped up regularly but I will post on here each time it has been replenished.
The food we have available entirely depends on donations from our partners.

If you have any unopened tinned or store cupboard items that you'd like to donate, please contact the page and I'll let you know where to take them. Donations from local allotments also gratefully received.

We do this entirely on a voluntary basis, but we are always very grateful for donations. There will be a tin attached to The Cupboard that you can pop any loose change you may have (every penny makes a difference). Or alternatively, you can donate to our PayPal at Southportcommunitycupboard@gmail.com. All donations help towards the running costs of the cupboard, which add up quickly.

Can't wait for you all to join us in our fight against food waste. We appreciate every one of you.
