So you are saying that all along the full route of the proposed cycle lanes there will not be any parking permitted, if so I think it is a great idea it should improve traffic flow greatly as there will not be any obstructions.

That's my take on it too.....It would be a great shame, if the Borough's praiseworthy ambition to create a safe route for bikes was thwarted, just to make on-road space for some people to leave their cars.

We absolutely need to care for our planet, but making traffic start and stop in low gears creates MORE pollution so the plan isn't good for anyone, not even the cyclists as some have already expressed their disappointment that the lanes don't help. What is the point of cycling to town if you can't cycle home because your bike has been stolen?

Arguments citing "anti-bike" make me feel the plans haven't really been studied or those posters would know there's a massive difference between anti-bike LANES and anti-bike!

A) I feel sure that busses etc, will continue to be able to negotiate the roads. Cars left along the roadside certainly hinder busses. I remember one particularly silly incident outside a primary school up Rufford Rd, when a bunch of school-runners parked outside their kids school - despite presence of a works vehicle already parked directly opposite....Outcome: the very next bus came to a grinding halt and could not get through, creating chaos behind - duh!

B) If I were you, I'd look again rather carefully, at anyone who opposes cycle infrastructure whilst at the same time claiming to be 'a cyclist'.

C) Stolen? Whatever has that got to do with a new cycle-lane?

D) Anti bike-lanes, is though 'next door' to being anti-bike......Take a look at how few residents currently brave the roads on a bike. Ever wondered why their numbers are so low? Don't suppose it's our historical lack of safe tarmac by any chance - duh!

Carry on with your bike but don't create holdups to do it.

Creating pinch points at the start and finish of journeys gives us the problems we all see.

Reducing traffic overall is far far better for the environment.

If there was only a mile or two of roadway for cars, you probably wouldn't see many cars either!

It's only early days yet. Wait till the whole town becomes cycle-friendly - then we shall see the true value of what will hopefully become a comprehensive network of routes.
