West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper said:
“Having written to Southport & Ormskirk Hospital Trust immediately following concerning reports that they may not be conducting coronavirus tests or isolating patients, I am pleased to hear from the Trust’s Chief Executive that they are actively testing patients and taking the necessary precautions to protect other patients at the hospital.”
Trish Armstrong Child, who has been at the head of the Trust since December 2019 said:
“I can confirm that any patients presenting to Southport A&E displaying symptoms of COVID 19 are being tested.
“We have a designated area within A&E for patients with suspected symptoms. If patients require admission we do have designated isolation and cohort wards where patients are being transferred to until we receive the results of swabs.”
