In an unexpected twist on the continued proposals for cycle lanes in Southport eyeonsouthport has reported the no entry signs on Queens Road have been taped over.

Only this week, 22rd June, the council have applied to have the Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) extended for another 12 months with an effective decision date of June 30th. So maybe the signs will be back in use again then.

Or maybe they will be back later tomorrow if this is a temporary action due to other close road closures for the half marathon?

The existing TRRO had actually expired in February this year so there are questions about whether these regulations are legal until another period becomes in force.

What a laughing stock!! Close the road, open the road, put the signs up, cover them up.

    It's madness.

You put you right leg in......

It's not as if many took any notice of them anyway.

Maybe someone has been reading the posts on here in a thread titled TOWN CENTRE CYCLE LANES ARE CURRENTLY ILLEGAL IT SEEMS and realised they better look like they are doing the right thing before asking further permission otherwise they will look like they have neglected the law and are not fit to be responsible for cycle lanes and street alterations that nobody wants, after months of negligence and illegal inconvenience if they do ask then the answer should be NO to reflect the poll that was taken at the start of this, it has now been shown that they can’t handle the workload of correctly monitoring and implementing this nonesense and re applying correctly and in a timely manner, rather they leave it as it is hoping no one will notice
Let’s hope this is a start to an end of this stupid town killing scheme .

Source tells Qlocal it is because of the expired order, so wait until June 30th when can be legally enforced again

Sefton MBC had a similar mess up with the Traffic order for London Street from Chapel Street to London Square around 2006-2007 forbidding other than buses, taxis and cyclists.

Had to apply for the order to be re-instated....

Just out of interest what date did the legality of Houghton st bollards expire? and what date did that old lady trip over on them? ( and how is she? ). Did she trip over on bollards that should have been removed by the council and should not have been there??.

And WHO does the council have to ask for permission to reinstate these lanes and the Queens rd no entry that they negligently forgot to discontinue MONTHS AGO? and have they rushed to cover up their failure before asking permission and will this be taken into account by whoever it is that decides to allow it or not again or will they just rubber stamp it for their friends and contacts regardless .
