Merseyside Police have flooded Southport Town centre with officers today.

Officers were on Talbot Street outside the Scarisbrick Hotel and at Christ Church.

There were also patrol cars along Lord Street and the Promenade.

Somebody has to deal with all those cyclists, I will bet there was 10 at the height and I didn't go on mine.

With the greatest respect, if someone tells you that a bunch of right wing fascists were coming to town, shouldn't your reaction have been something like 'I hope not' or 'not in my town'?

The general reaction to fascists shouldn't be 'at least they aren't left wing'.

I don't want fascists of any persuasion here, or anywhere else.

I’d like to think most normal people would have had the reaction you describe. Sadly though, there are some morons in this town who have sympathy towards such fanatical right wing groups.
