A scheme to provide free summer school holiday meals for children throughout Sefton is appealing for volunteers.


Sefton Council and charity Sefton CVS, who are working together on the initiative, say that many local families find the holidays difficult because they rely on the free school meals their children receive during term time.


As a response to this situation, the local authority and CVS are co-ordinating a network of local organisations who will be able to plug the gap by offering free meals in the holidays to children, young people and families.


This network includes Sefton’s Family Wellbeing Centres as well as a number of other community venues across the borough.


These organisations are now appealing for volunteers who can lend a helping hand at one or more of the locations across the borough.


Support is required with greeting and serving visitors for around two to three hours on certain days, and with supporting staff in the various venues.


Volunteers can of course choose the locations they wish to work at, and also how many days they are available to help out over the summer holiday
