Thanks to the alertness of staff at a local shop in Tarleton this morning, a female was arrested for being over the legal limit while in charge of a vehicle.

National research published by Drinkaware showed that some people have significantly increased their alcohol consumption at home during the lockdown.

And while the initial lockdown saw dramatically fewer cars on the roads, loosening of restrictions means that traffic levels are almost back at normal levels, giving added cause for concern.

Information published by the road safety charity Brake shows that even when someone is only just over the legal limit they are still six times more likely to be involved in a fatal collision than someone who has drunk nothing.

You are more likely to be involved in a crash if you drink drive which could cause serious injury or death. The consequences of drink and driving can also include:

    • A minimum 12 month driving ban
    • A criminal record
    • A hefty fine
    • Up to six months in prison
    • A licence endorsement for 11 years.

All of which also result in increased car insurance costs, or loss of employment.

The public are encouraged to report drink and drug drivers, providing as much information as possible so they can be investigated.

There you go again, the article reports that she was “over the drink drive limit”. You have automatically decided that she was “rat- arsed”. There again, to a gobsh*te like you, all drivers are the devil incarnate, aren’t they.

I am in no way whatsoever condoning the decision of this woman to drink and drive, but it was no surprise to see that you was first to keyboard, in your familiar roles of Judge, Jury and Exectutioner.

The article also says she was grassed up by concerned shop staff, because she was drunk.

Btw, I have no problem whatsoever with responsible, sober drivers, who respect my space when I'm on the bike.....It's the other types I worry about!

I'm not the biggest fan of our resident cycling stasi chief but - you're very much on the wrong side of the argument here. No words of condemnation for these scum are to strong or are poorly chosen.

Like I said in my previous comment, in NO way do I condone drink driving under any circumstances, but PNP is so bigoted when it comes to all and every motorist.
The news item clearly stated that the woman had been arrested for driving with excess alcohol, it doesn’t reference her being rat-arsed. I’m quite happy that she will be off the road for a minimum of twelve months, as for our “resident cycling stasi chief”, he’s an outright antagonist, out to annoy as many people as he can.
