A spokesperson for Southport FC commented on the walking football match...

A big thank you to everyone who took part in the Walking Football.

Our regular Southport FC WF group played a game against a team from Marine who all have either Parkinson’s or have suffered a stroke. Southport came out on top 3-0 but the result was unimportant. Everyone who took part had a great time and enjoyed their time on the hallowed turf of Haig Avenue.

A reminder that the Walking Football takes place at Dunes every Wednesday from 11-12 and is just £2 per person per session. You can just turn up on the day or if you require more details get in touch with the WF organiser, Rob Urwin, either by mail to rob@southportfc.net or call 077900-41514.

It was great to see Roly Howard at the ground supporting the Marine lads along with Ian Baines. John Roche who had quite a few games for Marine against Southport lead the Mariners.
