These were the scenes at Ainsdale Beach entrance and the National Trust at Victoria Road Formby yesterday. Everywhere jammed with vehicles as far as the eye can see.

They have all gone down to the seaside looking for a second wave.

One easy way to stop the traffic queue at Formby is put a sign up 'Car Park Full' because most of those cars are stuck unable to turn round, at Ainsdale just open the beach to parking!

You're spot on about Ainsdale. Just open the beach to cars. Payment by contactless card only to safeguard the parking attendant.

As for Formby, (in addition to your suggestion) why don't the Council just put cones all along Victoria Road & the roads off it when they know its going to be busy? They can do it for the Flower Show and Open Golf around Birkdale so why can't they do it for sunny weekends at Formby Point? Same goes for Shore Road, Chatsworth, etc. in Ainsdale. Oh no, that would take common sense and effort!

I'm a curtain twitcher ( not really ) who lives just off Shore Road and I think this is the 5th day out of 10 we have become a car park. If the reason for closing the beach to parking is to keep everyone distanced they it's failed because all the visitors are forced to park on the estate then walk down to the beach and there is no distancing whatsoever, the pavements are too narrow. It would have made much more sense to open the beach and have an attendant help people park with sufficient space between the cars. Closing the beach does not circumvent the health issue it just moves it.
