Oh, and TOTP started in 1964, not 67.

I was 17, just about to start my State Registered Nurse training at Southport Infirmary. That was real nursing, 40 hour week, £28 per month. But I loved it.
It has been said that when helping people change their behaviour – “the spirit in which help is offered” is the most important aspect, more than the degree of skills and knowledge of the helper!

I was 30 years old and married with 3 sons. But had ceased to call Southport home 3 years earlier, when my dad retired and moved away from the town. Fond memories nevertheless.

18 year old post, great to look back.

As a 7 year old, I don't remember a lot to be honest of our day trips to Southport other than the red and cream buses and candy floss. It was not until 1980 that I came to live here.

I wonder how long this post will continue for and how many of the original posters are still about.

Great year 1967 some of the best music ever some real classics released that year. I was 17 and a Gary Brooker lookalike (Procol Harum lead singer).

I too saw the Who at the Floral minus Keith Moon.
Tunes that take me back to 67, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, Sgt Pepper,
Whiter Shade of Pale, Waterloo Sunset, Groovin, Itchycoo Park, Here comes the Nice, Tin Soldier, San Francisco.

I'm still around after nearly 17 years on q/local. I'm 84 this year and dont intend leaving anytime soon!
